Information > Episode Guide > Spirit Detective Saga 01. Surprised to Be Dead (Feb. 23, 02) Yusuke Urameshi is the toughest kid around, no question there. He is constantly in fights, skipping school and doing everything he's not supposed to. But when he sees a little boy about to be hit by a car he jumps and pushes the kid away saving the young boy's life and ending his own, and not to mention his rep. 02. Koenma Appears (Mar. 2, 02) Botan guides Yusuke to the Spirit World. he brings Yusuke to Koenma the current ruler while his father King Yama is away. Koenma tells Yusuke that he was not supposed to die and gives him a chance back at life. Yusuke must now hatch a Spirit Beast from a Spirit Egg, but if the beast turns out evil from Yusuke's negative energy, then it will eat him and he will be stuck dead for eternity. 03. Kuwabara: A Promise Between Men (Mar. 9, 02) Kuwabara has taken Yusuke's place as the toughest kid around, he's also taking some of Yusuke's old enemies. But Kuwabara and his friends stick together even when the teachers are out to get them. A teacher threatens one of Kuwabara's friend's job if anyone gets in to a fight, so Kuwabara must take a constant pummeling without fighting back to help his friend out. 04. Requirements for Lovers (Mar. 16, 02) Koenma sent out an investigator to see if anyone wanted Yusuke back to life, because if no one did then the ceremony couldn't take place. All the doubts are washed away when a fire at Yusuke's house causes Kayko and Kuwabara to risk the flames and rescue his body, but will Yusuke have to rescue them giving up his Spirit Egg, and his only chance back at living? 05. Yusuke's Back (Mar. 23, 02) The ceremony that is needed to bring Yusuke back to life is in place. The only problem is he needs someone to kiss him. Kayko is at the hospital with her mother, and Yusuke's mom is drunk, will Kuwabara step up to the challenge and kiss Yusuke? Not this time, Kayko kisses him just in time and he reclaims his life, and his rep on the street. 06. Three Monsters (Mar. 30, 02) Yusuke Urameshi, Spirit Detective is now on his first case, and if he isn't careful it could also be his last. Three demons each stole an Artifact of Darkness. Now Yusuke must bring down the demons and give the Artifacts back to Koenma before his father King Yama finds out. 07. Gouki and Kurama (Apr. 6, 02) Gouki is devouring souls of little kids with the Orb of Baast and making Yusuke really mad. With his Spirit Gun, Yusuke manages to beat Gouki. But Yusuke now has Kurama to deal with. Then Kurama tells Yusuke that he will only need the Forlorn Hope until he can use it to make his "Earth Mother" healthy again. But the Forlorn Hope takes your life in exchange for a wish. Could this be the end of Kurama? 08. The Three Eyes of Hiei (Apr. 13, 02) Yusuke has two of the three demons and artifacts under control. But now he faces his most lethal adversary... Hiei. Hiei has a plan and he kidnaps Kayko. With Hiei's third eye he makes Kayko a brainless slave, and unless Yusuke can get the antidote from Hiei, Kayko's in a lot of trouble. 09. The Search Begins (Apr. 20, 02) Yusuke has a long weekend off from school. But Botan tells Yusuke that Genkai an old and dying, but powerful, psychic is holding a tournament to find a successor. Yusuke isn't interested even though an evil demon called Rando is in on the tournament. Botan makes him an offer he can't refuse and they head off to Genkai's. Yusuke is now in the running for Genkai's training! 10. Kuwabara's Spirit Sword (Apr. 27, 02) After the elimination rounds, a fighting tournament begins. Now the fighters must face off in complete darkness. Kuwabara's opponent causes him to yield a sword from his spirit energy. Will Kuwabara's spirit sword be enough? 11. Hard Fights for Yusuke (May 4, 02) Yusuke is up in Genkai's tournament. He faces Kibano in pitch black darkness. But Kibano has a helmet that can sense spirit energy. As Yusuke is taking the beating of his life he devises a plan. Right after that fight, Yusuke must now battle a ninja with an arsenal of tricks up his sleeve. How will Yusuke get out of this one? 12. Rando Rises Kuwabara Falls (May 11, 02) Three fighters remain in Genkai's tournament. Yusuke, Kuwabara and Shorin who is in fact the demon Rando. Rando beats up Kuwabara and breaks nearly every bone in the fighters body. This causes Yusuke to come flying off the bench and fight Rando himself. Now its Yusuke vs. Rando and Genkai's psychic powers are on the table! 13. Yusuke vs. Rando: 99 Attacks (May 18, 02) Kuwabara is lying at deaths door as Yusuke picks up the fight. Yusuke will have to do more then be lucky for this fight, because Rando is no push over. Yusuke and Rando prove to be about even until Yusuke is thrown in to a swamp, but an insult from Kuwabara fixes his problems and one of Rando's spells is reversed because Yusuke had algae in his ear. Yusuke lucks out again and solves his second case. 14. The Beasts of Maze Castle (May 25, 02) Yusuke is back from six months of intense training with Genkai. He meets up with Kayko and Kuwabara who decide to go see a movie. Yusuke notices someone is following him, so he takes Kuwabara aside and they beat up a bunch of possessed guys. Botan shows up and tells them that a bunch of Makai insects are invading Earth, and unless Yusuke goes and defeats the four Saint Beasts at maze Castle, all humans are doomed. Kuwabara tags along, but they are soon overwhelmed by enemies. Hiei and Kurama show up to join in on the fun. As they all enter Maze Castle, a huge stone slab drops, the four can't hold it for long and only one of them can escape alive, they have entered the Gate of Betrayal... 15. Genbu, the Stone Beast (Jun. 8, 02) Yusuke decides to trust Hiei and while they hold up the stone he dashes for the switch. After what looks like Hiei betrayed them, he flips the switch and everyone gets out OK. They walk in to Genbu's lair, the first of the Saint Beasts and Kurama steps up first. He pulls a rose out of his hair and turns it into a rose whip. He slices Genbu to pieces and attacks its brain finishing this monster off for good. 16. Byakko, the White Tiger (Jun. 15, 02) Kurama took a somewhat serious wound from Genbu so he will have to sit out for a while. Kuwabara and Hiei argue but Kuwabara decides to fight next. Now he's up against a huge tiger named Byakko. Byakko takes his hairs and turns them in to monsters. With a new and improved Spirit Sword Kuwabara puts an end to them, but will his good fortune and Spirit Sword last against the mighty Byakko? 17. Byakko's Lair (Jun. 22, 02) As Kuwabara uses his Spirit Sword on Byakko, his sword is getting smaller and Byakko is getting larger while he is receiving no damage. Byakko keeps growing larger and larger while Kuwabara is running out of energy. He notices that Byakko seems to be way too full of energy and makes one last attempt with a very powerful Spirit Sword. Byakko expands to his limit but Kuwabara falls to the ground. Just as Byakko is about to crush Kuwabara, he explodes. Their victory is short lived however, as Byakko's voice calls them and leads them in to his lair, a room filled with lava and pillars. Since Kuwabara got his energy back he steps up again. Byakko uses a new technique the Tiger's Scream to melt away the pillars, but Kuwabara uses his Spirit Sword like a pole vault and punches Byakko in to the lava. He is left clinging to an edge until the rest of the gang comes to help him. 18. Seiryu, the Blue Dragon (Jun. 29, 02) With Byakko out of the way, the gang is free to fight their next Saint Beast. But first they must make their way through a maze. Kurama tells about a legend of how there are thirteen doors and only one leads to the next Saint Beasts, all the rest have unavoidable traps. Yusuke turns to Kuwabara to sense the right door, and he picks the correct one. The leader of the Saint Beasts is impressed but annoyed that they have gotten this far. He sends Seiryu the Blue Dragon as their next fight. Just as the fight between Yusuke and Seiryu is about to heat up they sense something from behind the boys, it is Byakko. Since he dishonored the Saint Beasts, Seiryu used his Ice Dragon to freeze Byakko then he shattered it. This put Hiei over the edge and he took the fight instead of Yusuke. Seiryu kept missing Hiei because of Hiei's speed, but when he hit Hiei's leg it looked bad. Hiei jumped at Seiryu and slashed him sixteen times in less than a second and then unfroze himself because he is an ice demon. Now three of the four Saint Beasts are out of the way, but the leader finds out that Kayko is dear to Yusuke's heart and has the people under the Makai spell try and get Kayko. 19. Suzaku, Leader of the Beasts (Jul. 6, 02) Now only one Saint Beast remains, but he has a plan. Suzaku sends his mind controlled humans after Kayko. He wants to wait until Kayko is dead before he and Yusuke fight, so Suzaku sends an army of Cultivated Humans after the team. Hiei devises a plan to get Yusuke past the monsters and in through a window. They all jump on each others shoulders making a human ladder for Yusuke. He makes it and they continue the fight while Yusuke confronts Suzaku. He sees Kayko and Botan on a screen and he gets really mad. After throwing a ton of punches at Suzaku, he uses his Spirit Gun but Suzaku swats it away like a fly. Then Suzaku uses his attack Storm of Torment to get the power of lightning in his hands and he electrocutes Yusuke with his spirit energy. Yusuke uses his own energy and a pair of shoes as a cover to block the next attack. Then Yusuke nails Suzaku in the face with a punch. Botan saves Kayko from the mind controlled humans and they try and escape together, but how long will they be able to keep it up? If Yusuke cannot destroy the Makai Whistle, Kayko and Botan are doomed. 20. Seven Way to Die (Jul. 6, 02) Since Yusuke can foil his Storm of Torment Suzaku uses his other favorite move, the Prism of Seven which multiplies him in to seven being each with their own free will. The seven Suzaku's attack Yusuke while the seventh holds the Makai Whistle and Yusuke manages to dodge and block all six until the seventh shoots his attack. It makes Yusuke collapse and the Suzaku's are now just torturing him until he sees Kayko die. Kayko and Botan set a trap for their pursuers and they escape once more. Yusuke remembers his training from Genkai and when he sees that Kayko is still alive he realizes that many people need him. With a blast of his spirit energy he sends the Suzaku's flying away from him. Now that Yusuke is back on his feet, can he destroy the whistle in time to save Kayko, and will the other members of his team get by the cultivated humans to help him? 21. Yusuke's Sacrifice (Jul. 6, 02) It's the final showdown between Yusuke and Suzaku. With Yusuke's new found energy he's giving it his all. With his Shotgun Blast, it looks like Yusuke won against all seven Suzaku's. As he is crawling for the flute Suzaku's bird Moruku gets in Yusuke's way. This gives time for one Suzaku to stop Yusuke and he absorbs the other seven and then creates seven more after he is restored. Yusuke sees Kayko and Botan getting attacked and he puts his life energy in to his Shotgun since he's all out of Spirit Energy. Just as he is attacking Kuwabara and the others show up. They watch as Yusuke falls to the ground with all the other Suzaku's. Yusuke won, but the fight cost him his life. As his heart is stopping Kuwabara gives Yusuke what little energy he can spare and Hiei and Kurama bring them back to Earth. Yusuke wakes up three days later to find everyone ok and Kayko isn't even mad at him. But she knows about Yusuke being a Spirit Detective and she makes Yusuke promise to tell her whenever he goes on a mission. 22. Lamenting Beauty (?) A new case has begun, and Yusuke and Kuwabara have to rescue an ice demon by the name of Yukina. Who Kuwabara falls in love with. However Yukina is no ordinary demon and happens to be Hiei's sister. Yusuke and Kuwabara must save Yukina before Hiei can crash the party and kill everyone involved in the plot. Not only that, they have to go face to face with some serious demons under the Apparition Gang and even the crime lord Gonzo Tarukane. 23. The Toguro Brothers Gang (?) With the Toguro Brothers working for Tarukane things got much tougher for Yusuke. He and Kuwabara have to face off with some nasty demons that are getting in their way, and this is just the first line. Yusuke and Kuwabara have no trouble taking these demons down. But there are three much more powerful demons awaiting, and Hiei isn't too far behind to get his revenge on Tarukane and the others. 24. The Deadly Triad (?) Three incredibly powerful demons in the Apparition Gang known as the Triad step up to the plate next. Yusuke manages to beat a very confused demon Miyuki, and he and Kuwabara work together to defeat the next one Inmaki. The final demon Gokumonki takes Botan as a hostage but she gets away and with a few kicks, Yusuke and Kuwabara knock them down. Hiei is about to enter the compound, but Yusuke and Kuwabara still have the Toguro Brothers to contend with. 25. Kuwabara's Fight of Love (?) The last people standing between rescuing Yukina are the Toguro Brothers. They don't seem the least bit powerful, but when some of their true powers are shown, hell breaks loose. But Kuwabara is determined to rescue Yukina, so will his love for the ice demon be enough to pull them through this one?
